Southeastern run regular trains from London St Pancras and Victoria to Margate. The journey is around 1 ½ hours.
Driving from London takes around 2 hours. We do not have on-site parking, however there are free parking spaces within a five minute walk of the hotel on Fort Crescent and Lower Fort Promenade. There is a pay and display car park in Market Square, a two minute walk. The car part has fast charging for electric cars.

We are also looking for a kitchen porter. Experience is preferred but full training provided.
Arrival and Departure
Check-in is from 3-10pm and check-out at 11am. If you’d like to arrive earlier or leave later then please get in touch with us on the day and we’ll do our best to accommodate you.
The hotel main entrance opens at 8am and closes at 11pm but you can access the side entrance with your swipe card at all times.
Unless otherwise specified, our rates are on a room only basis and are inclusive of VAT.
Breakfast is served every day from 8am-11am.
We serve Friday and Saturday brunch until 2pm
Lunch is served on Sunday from 1230pm to 4pm.
Dinner runs Wednesday to Saturday from 5.30pm to 930pm.
Fort Road Bar is open Wednesday to Saturday from 5pm and from 3pm on Sunday. It has capacity for 60 guests and is available for full or partial hire. Please contact email@example.com for availability and information.
The Roof Terrace is for hotel residents only. It is a fantastic spot to enjoy the view over Margate and the coast. Drinks and snacks are available on request via reception. You are welcome to enjoy the terrace from Monday to Sunday, 7am to 9pm but please be conscious of our neighbours while you enjoy the space.
Booking, Cancellations and Non-Arrivals Policy
To make a reservation we require the full value of the booking to be pre-paid. This is fully refundable subject to our cancellation policy. We can only accept cancellations & amendments via email to firstname.lastname@example.org
To be eligible for a full refund, cancellations must be made by 3pm, 14 days prior to arrival. Cancellations after this time will result in us retaining the charge for your stay. If we manage to take another reservation within the charging period for a late cancellation, we will refund 50% of your booking amount. To amend your booking please contact email@example.com.
For group bookings (i.e. for more than three rooms) to be eligible for a full refund we need notice by 3pm, 30 days prior to arrival. If we are able to take another reservation within the charging period for a late cancellation, we will refund 50% of your booking amount for each room filled. Any amendment to the original booking is also subject to this cancellation policy.
A maximum of three parties can book online for any group stay. For larger groups, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
Cancellations for bookings over Christmas & New Year require 30 days notice to be eligible for a full refund.
No refunds will be made to rooms booked under promotional rates and offers.
Should The Fort Road Hotel be required to close due to government restrictions bookings will either be refunded or rescheduled without charge.
All rooms and rates are subject to availability. Where specific rooms have been requested all reasonable effort will be made to honour such requests.
Please note that no rooms are held nor reserved until confirmation of full payment has been received.
To make your stay as simple as possible, we will email your final bill to you on the morning of your departure. We accept all major credit cards including Amex. We are a cashless business, so if you’d like to leave a tip for the team, please speak to reception. Please note that we share the tips among the whole team. Upon check-out all outstanding charges must be paid for in full.
The rooms are naturally ventilated, with openable windows, and fans. We do not have air conditioning or cooling.
Four of the rooms have TVs. If you require a TV please ask on booking and we will do our best to accommodate.
Free wifi is available in all rooms, restaurant and bar. The password is on your room card wallet.
We are able to provide a complimentary cot for children up to two years of age. Child mattresses and bedding are available for children up to 8 years of age at an additional cost of £20 per child, per night. This is only available in our Studio room with can can accommodate up to 2 children, subject to availability. Please do let us know in advance if you require this. We are unable to accommodate extra beds for adults or older children.
The Fort Road Hotel can accept a limited number of small, well-trained dogs in some of our hotel rooms at our discretion. To cover extra cleaning there is a charge of £20 per dog. Please enquire about availability. We will need to know the breed of your dog before accepting the reservation. This charge does not apply to Guide or Assistance dogs.
If you have a special occasion or are simply looking to add a few extra touches then please feel free to inform us and we will be delighted to make arrangements for you.
We reserve the right to charge your credit/debit card for any damages to your room or the hotel during your stay or for any items that are missing when you leave. This includes damage or staining to any of our linen or soft furnishings. We also reserve the right to judge acceptable levels of noise and suitable behaviour that may compromise the enjoyment of other guests. If no reasonable action is taken by the guest when asked to do so, we reserve the right to terminate the booking without being liable for a refund or compensation.
Rooms keys that are not returned upon check-out are subject to a £25 fee.
The Fort Road Hotel is a non-smoking hotel and does not permit smoking in any indoor areas of the hotel. Vaping is also not permitted in any of the hotel building.
Access for wheelchairs is through the side entrance of the hotel. We have a lift that services every floor of the building, apart from the roof terrace, which is accessed by a staircase.
